Whanau connections Warm and respectful relationships are at the heart of everything we do here at Waterview Kindergarten. We welcome whanau involvement in their tamariki’s learning, supporting them to connect their learning at kindergarten with life at home. We appreciate whanau sharing their knowledge and cultural events with our kindergarten community. Enviroschools We are a part of the Enviroschools program and are proud to have earned our Bronze award in 2020. Empowering our tamariki to be connected to nature is important to us and has a big influence on our curriculum. Children are encouraged to be kaitiaki (guardians) of our special place here and at home and in the wider community. Ready for school We are situated on the grounds of Waterview Primary this allows our tamariki to maintain connections with friends and whanau who are at school. We also visit the classroom each week allowing our tamariki to develop relationships with their school Kaiako and experience a smooth transition to school. Quality learning Our beautiful, happy, and well-resourced space fosters children’s imagination and creativity. Children develop independence and autonomy by following their own interests and making decisions about their own learning. Teachers guide and support this learning by noticing, recognising, and responding to children’s emerging interests, strengths, and depositions. Supporting tamariki We currently have a special focus on supporting our tamariki in developing their social and emotional competence. We have a kind and caring bunch who are thriving in managing their own needs as well as supporting and encouraging their friends through challenges. We are very proud of the beautiful kind-hearted tamariki here. Specialist care Our kaiako are trained in implementing the Incredible Years Teacher Programme which supports young children with self-regulation and their social, emotional and academic competence. Our team Our teaching team are fully qualified, passionate, en…

Our Place Green Bay Kindergarten offer a warm and inviting early learning environment, which provides a range of cosy spaces, both indoors and outdoors. This allows tamariki/children to explore their interests in small groups or as individuals. We are nestled alongside La Rosa Gardens and our backyard looks out onto this beautiful community space. We are proud of our open, inviting outdoor environment, blooming with natural resources and bursting with opportunities for tamariki to explore, make discoveries and further develop their physical skills. Our Community We are proud of our multicultural and diverse community, and the richness that this adds to our centre. Our kindergarten thrives on the involvement of our families and the wider community. We have an open door policy and we welcome whanau/families to share in their child’s learning journey, as this nurtures a sense of belonging for all. Our teaching team is made up of five qualified, registered kaiako/teachers with a collective wealth of experience. We are supported by an onsite administrator, teacher aide and student kaiako who bring their own strengths and knowledge to our team. We have built a reciprocal relationship with our local kura/school, Green Bay School, which supports our transitional visits. The quote, “it takes a village to raise a child” really resonates with us within this community. Our Values Manaakitanga respect for ourselves, others, and our environment is at the heart of our philosophy. Curiosity children are naturally curious and we acknowledge and support this in our centre, to encourage a life-long love of learning. Inclusion our children are beautifully unique and we provide an inclusive environment where each individual’s strengths and interests are nurtured. Relationships building reciprocal relationships with children and their whanau are paramount to our practice. Our learning community is enriched through open communication, and the sharing of whanau aspirations for their child…
