The Gatehouse Bed and Breakfast is part of a larger property built in 1929 by well-known architect, Natusch, and based upon another home in Cornwall, England. The Gatehouse is completely detached from the main house, and offers peace and privacy for the discerning traveller. The Gatehouse has been designed to accommodate one couple in self-contained luxury. The two level cottage features an upstairs bedroom with the option of a king size bed or twin beds. With all day sun the windows look over a parterre garden, and there is a sunny reading nook with comfy armchair. A double sofa bed is provided downstairs for an extra guest. Downstairs has a generous living room, fully equipped kitchen and a comfortably appointed bathroom. The kitchen is stocked with breakfast provisions, including cereals, free-range eggs, fresh bread and condiments. A selection of teas and fresh coffee are provided. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking needs and there is complimentary New Zealand wine and beer. The Gatehouse is self-catering. You are welcome to relax by the pool or enjoy a soak in the spa. The pool is heated to approximately 28C from October to Easter, and the spa is available all year round. The Gatehouse is in Lowry Bay, located just 15 minutes north east of Wellington's CBD. This area of Wellington is noted for its beautiful views, birdlife, native forest as well as beaches, and there are lovely walks and picnic spots. Close by, Eastbourne and 'The Bays' as they are known, is home to many artists, writers, potters and painters. The village has some great little restaurants, craft shops and galleries. The perfect place for a coffee in the sun in one of the Days Bay cafe's. The East by West Ferry also runs from the bay, taking approximately 20 minutes to the Wellington CBD.
