He says it 'just feels right' that he and his Canadian wife Trisha have opened their first business in Warkworth, where he grew up. "It's hard to put into words, but it's the sense of community and belonging here, " Peter says. The couple opened Cafe Q in the Riverside Arcade, March, 2010 after a month of renovating and cleaning. "The riverside setting is peaceful and quiet, well away from the noise and fumes of the road so it has a lovely atmosphere, " Trisha says. "But I think it's Peter's food that is really going to impress people." Peter, a professionally trained chef, with more than 15 years experience, who most recently worked at Government House in Wellington, says he takes a lot of pride in the food he serves, both its quality and consistency. He makes everything fresh and uses local suppliers where possible. "And without wanting to boast, I think my sausage roll is the best in Warkworth!" Peter offers a catering service for small gatherings and the cafe can be available to hire for special events.
