Born and bred on a farm in Matakana, Jim is no stranger to farm machinery and garden equipment. He worked as a shearer between running the farm and competing in shearing competitions, then ventured into a wool buying business in Silverdale. He combined this with selling farm equipment for Gatmans Agricentre as he travelled the district buying wool, resulting in successful sales for the company which already had a well established name. Jim and Helen purchased the business in 2006.
