The catalyst of the business is owner Luella Raj. Many of you will know her, as she is part of the old establishment, having been involved with the business for nine years before purchasing it. Not only does Luella have a trained eye for emerging artists she also holds knowledge for established artists of New Zealand, making KINA diverse and well rounded. Her passion for hand crafted objects and homewares is reflected in the corners and shelves of KINA. Luella co-ordinates the gallery space, where exhibitions are managed every four weeks. Her organising ability means things get achieved behind the scenes as well as on the gallery floor. Luella and Katie work together in just about everyway- in the physical store, online store, and exhibition openings. Together these two make sure customers are looked after with an excellent level of service. They hold each other in high regard and trust this is evident when shopping in Kina. Their abilities are complimentary, which means Kina NZ Design Art Space can get on with the job of sourcing beautiful Aotearoa/New Zealand objects for you. This is the essence of Kina: recognising the talent of New Zealanders, whom by their very nature and location often do not promote themselves. Relationships have been forged over the years, allowing the artist to get on with the job of creating, taking comfort in knowing Luella Raj and her staff at Kina NZ Design Artspace are reputable and wish to assist them in selling their creations.
