The Company of W G Vining Ltd set up in May 1914 originally sold Cadillacs and later obtained franchises for Hudson Essex, Chevrolet and Rover cars. He did sell one new Ford Model T in 1915! In May 1919 The Nelson Universal Car Company Ltd was formed as District Agents for Ford Cars one of the many objects of the Company was to carry on the business of being manufacturers of, importers of, dealers in, agents for, repairers, cleaners, storers and warehouses of automobiles, motor cars, motors, motor cycles, bicycles, velocipedes and carriages of all kinds! By 1926 the Ford agency had changed to R Wright & Son and then G M Smart Ltd took over the premises which had a workshop, petrol station and a showroom facility for one car. With the close of G M Smart Ltd, M S Motors Ltd was established by Dick Stevenson and Bob McKegg in August 1938 and has continued to trade for over 75 years. Bob McKegg sold out in 1957 after which three generations of Stevenson's had the control of the company. The Colonial Motor Company set up MS Ford 1998 Ltd, buying the trading company, plant and stock of MS Motors Ltd in April 1998 which today, operates a full range of Service, Parts and Vehicle Sales under the experienced eye of Alan Kirby, Dealer Principal.
