The Apple Pickers’ Cottages, Mapua

The Apple Pickers’ Cottages are accommodation located in Mapua that were built for apple pickers in the 1950s. There are Three very private self-contained cottages in a wild natural setting on the shore of the beautiful tidal Waimea Inlet. Panoramic views across the estuary to mountains, vineyards, orchards and olive groves. Mapua village is just 5 minutes drive away, and the lively Mapua Wharf has cafés, restaurants and galleries.

Mapua is in the heart of the Nelson/Tasman region, so our location is a perfect base for exploring. There are so many options for day trips: for hiking there is a choice of three National Parks (Kahurangi, Nelson Lakes and Abel Tasman), for swimming there are beautiful golden sand beaches and rivers, for cycling there is a huge variety of trails, and for gourmands there is endless foraging for wine, artisan food and craft beer.
