Rosemary Lelo - Weddings Celebrant, Nelson

The herb rosemary is a symbol of faithfulness and devotion and in many parts of Europe unmarried women looking for love used rosemary to help guide them to a suitor. During wedding ceremonies branches of rosemary were traditionally gilded and used for decoration and also dipped into wine goblets during toasts to the bride.

Given that rosemary has such a strong connection to the rituals of marriage and love it could not be more appropriate that I fell in love with marriage and all that it represents and decided to become a celebrant.

I grew up Nelson (Richmond) and feel privileged to perform ceremonies here in the region where I spent my childhood. I became a celebrant back in 2009 as I wanted to be involved in a special wedding. Since then, I haven’t looked back! I love that I can spend time with couples, helping them plan their perfect day. It’s such a happy and memorable time and something that I feel honoured to be a part of.

I have a background in Speech and Drama and draw on those skills when ‘performing’ a ceremony. It gives me the confidence to put the nerves to one side and focus on the ceremony at hand. I also have a passion for creative writing and put these skills to work in writing ceremonies for my clients to craft for them exactly the ceremony they want.

I take pride in performing ceremonies for a variety of other events including naming ceremonies, renewing vows and funerals, I can also perform ceremonies in New Zealand Sign Language.

I really enjoy meeting people and sharing their journey with them.

My husband and I have two beautiful daughters Eve and Jane and enjoy spending our downtime with them out and about in our community.
