P & m Fireplaces, Nelson

I had the most horrific experience with the owners of this business P & M Fireplaces. I have never been treated so appallingly, abusively or with such nasty, passive aggression as a customer, anywhere in New Zealand, or other countries around the world. I initially got a rope replaced on the fire door, for which they needed to replace some screws. This the owner said took an hour so charged me $60.00 - it clearly would not have taken anywhere near this length of time, so I was very disappointed with his dishonesty, however I paid courteously and without question. The rope erupted out within the first fire, so I took it back for it to be fixed. After I put the door back on the rope again erupted, then the brackets that they had put back on, fell off, causing the glass to fall into the fire. I took it back a third time, was advised to come back in an hour, and it would be repaired again. I allowed two hours but the door was sitting on the counter untouched. When I registered my disappointment to the female owner of P & M Fireplaces, she reacted extremely aggressively by walking into my face and slapping my arms telling me "you poor thing!" I was astonished and disgusted. To be treated with such passive/aggressive sarcasm and to be man-handled in this way, was extremely upsetting and disturbing. I felt I had been patient and courteous, having to return the door for the third time, after being dishonestly overcharged by P & M Fireplaces, only to culminate in this ridiculous childish, bullying, aggressive behaviour. Then the male owner of P & M Pireplaces came to the counter from the back, speaking to me extremely aggressively over the counter, with no knowledge or understanding of my consumer dissatisfaction. As a very patient consumer/customer, I believe I had a very real right to discuss in a fair, calm, manner the issue. However when he was shouting, I felt as a mother standing there with my little toddler I was in an unsafe position. Had I been a staunch male customer, or, my six foot partner had been standing with me, I wonder if they would have treated me so appallingly. Equally, I worry for the good employees who may suffer bullying or passive/aggressive treatment by the owners. These, two Nelson business owners of P & M Fireplaces should be sincerely ashamed of their disgraceful behaviour.
