Wof cost $80 and took 2 days. This was my partners first experience getting a warrant for her first car, she was fully taken advantage of. Her van failed on brake pads that were recently replaced and 2 worn tires. She was quoted $445.50 to replace the brake pads and told they can't replace just the pads they only replace the pads and discs together. Also $240 per tire so a grand total of $925.50 in work that didn't need to be done plus $80 for wof inspection. We took it to vtnz the same day and passed a wof with no mention of issues with the brakes. 2 tires at vtnz set us back $120 including labour. On top of this level of fraud the mechanic mike made no effort to communicate or reach a fair outcome for us and refused to acknowledge that he was taking advantage of my partners limited knowledge. I would advise anyone thinking of using this business to avoid and use a reputable agency like vtnz or the AA."

An interesting take on the events Matt. This is not quite correct. A WOF check is $73 – I replaced a bulb in your Odyssey without charging you for the time it took to do so. The 2 days was from 4.30pm through to the morning the next day. It is possible your front brake pads were indeed recently replaced – However I was more concerned about the state of the back brake pads that were definitely on the way out. Your view of “the brakes feel fine” does not have a legal standing. It is good practise to replace both the brake pads and the discs at the same time so to avoid brake shudder and squeak. As I mentioned to you $240 per was the middle range of tyre and was a better option than the tyres you had in your boot that belonged to a Toyota that you wanted me to fit. You are, of course, entitled to go somewhere else to get a cheaper option and I believe I was the one that suggested that. Your Odyssey does not have a warrant according to the NZTA WOF online website. You are intentionally being dishonest and misleading.
