Midwives Out West, WAITAKERE

In New Zealand the main form of maternity provider in most areas is a midwife.

As there is a shortage of maternity providers in New Zealand, midwives are in high demand and it is important to organise your maternity provider as soon as you can.

We are located in Henderson, at Henderson Medical Centre. Henderson Medical Centre offers a wide range of services including general practitioners, pharmacy, physiotherapist and free pregnancy scanning at The Radiology Group right next door.
As with most midwives, we provide antenatal, birth and postnatal care.

When you ring looking for a midwife we will advise you on who is available to care for you around your delivery month. From this you can choose and make a booking appointment with a midwife to begin your care.

During your antenatal period we ask that you visit us at our clinic. We see you for an average of 10-12 antenatal appointments, depending on which stage of pregnancy you are at your booking visit.

We provide full labour and delivery care at Waitakere Hospital.

During your postnatal period we visit you at home, unless you prefer to come to our clinic. We see you and your baby a minimum of 7 times during this period and usually refer you on to your well child provider between 4-6 weeks.

We care for women in the West Auckland Area, from New Lynn through to Whenuapai, West Harbour and Westgate. If you are not sure if you are within this area then just give us a call.
There are currently three midwives available for your care at Midwives Out West. We work closely in a group so that if your midwife (Lead Maternity Carer) is unavailable due to sickness, another delivery or scheduled time off then the continuity of your care continues as normal. You will have an opportunity to meet all three midwives during your pregnancy.
