Description
Hello, my name is Megan Grimwood. I live in West Harbour with my husband, three lovely children aged 16, 9 and 7 and my lively dog Felix. I practice with a small caseload to ensure each woman and family receives optimal care and therefore advise arranging your booking with me early.
I completed my training at AUT University with a Bachelor of Health Science majoring in Midwifery. With a current practicing certificate, I am also a current member of the Midwifery College of Midwives.
I work as an independent midwife, within a team of three other experienced midwives. With a passion for providing quality care I choose to deliver out of Waitakere Hospital primarily and North Shore Hospital when medically indicated. My services include full antenatal, labour and postnatal care.
The Ministry of Health funds maternity services for all New Zealand citizens, residents and certain other residency statuses. If you are eligible, having me as your Lead Maternity.

My core belief that pregnancy and childbirth are normal life events creates the basis for my midwifery philosophy. By choosing to practice midwifery in New Zealand I am able to work within the partnership model which ensures that I continually endeavour to provide care that is women centred and family focused. I believe in the importance of including those that you wish to have around during this special time.
I facilitate this by acknowledging that pregnancy, childbirth and parenting are often a time when many choices and decisions need to be made which have the potential to impact on your family/whanau as a whole. With a firm focus on ensuring all care is provided with informed consent, my professional commitment to midwifery ensures that you will receive care that is individualised. This facilitates flexibility where circumstances allow from your antenatal booking through until the postnatal discharge of you and your new baby between 4-6 weeks

Free preconception information and education to assist you with implementing a healthy start before pregnancy. Preconception healthcare can play a fundamental role in optimising your pregnancy and birth experience alongside contributing to healthy infants, children, families and communities within New Zealand.
Full midwifery care – antenatal, birth and postnatal care.
Ordering and interpreting of lab tests and ultrasound results.
Access to relevant up to date information.
I provide antenatal appointments from clinic rooms in Glendene. Understanding that transport and work commitments can occasionally make it difficult to attend, I offer home visits and evening appointments on request.
