Mac S Fish Supply Ltd, Hastings

I have been buying fish & chips at Mac's fish in Hastings for almost 1 years and have always experienced a friendly service and a good product. This evening, the frying fish was Tarakihi and - as I always do - I asked if I could have Gurnard and would pay any extra. I was told by one of the 4 staff that there was only what was in the window i.e. a few MINUTE pieces. So I purchsed the Tarakihi. about 1-15 minutes later, a customer came in and asked to purchase some Gurnard. The same member of staff asked for Gurnard and a new tray - laden with many large plum fillets of gurard was brought out. When I asked why I could have purchased any, I was told by the supervisor that the member didn't know there was any gurnard. When I asked why not, I was told "It wasn't ME who told you there wasn't any" and "sorry, that's just how it is" I consider this to nwe veru unprofessional and - sadly - after 12 years - myself and my family will be purchasing fish and chips elsewhere
