Description

Higgs is leading the way in beautifully crafted, consciously built homes. Our clients deserve homes that are healthy to live in, energy-efficient, save them money in the long-term, and have a lighter touch on the environment. That’s why we’re leading the way and setting a new standard for the building industry. By building homes with a meticulous level of care for our clients, our workmanship and our environment, our builds are beautiful and better for the families who live in them. Led by Shaun’s 15 plus years in the building industry, our team are continually being trained in innovative building techniques and technology. Using more planet-conscious materials and processes is still relatively new, so staying on top of ways to build high-performance homes is important. We are members of the New Zealand Certified Builders Association, a group that promotes excellence in building standards and protects homeowners.

What is a passive or energy efficient home?
A home's function is to shelter you, keep you warm, and have the right spaces to suit your life. A energy home is one that does this exceptionally, without requiring you to use heaps of energy heating and drying it. It’s built to be cooler in summer, and warmer in winter.

A passive home is the next level up and must be certified. It means your home is built to meet several energy-based criteria to achieve the passive house standard. Both are a more efficient way of living, which makes for a healthier family, and less expensive power bills. It also makes for a healthier environment by reducing energy consumption in the long run.
