Alex Mortlock - Clinical Psychologist, Christchurch

Alex Mortlock is a Christchurch-based clinical psychologist specialising in adult autism assessment, with particular experience in recognising autism in people who may have spent many years masking, compensating, or adapting to social expectations.

Assessments are comprehensive, collaborative, and neurodiversity-affirming, with a focus on helping people develop a clearer understanding of their experiences, strengths, needs, and patterns across their lifespan. Autism assessments typically include detailed clinical interviews, relevant questionnaires, consideration of developmental history, and a comprehensive written report.

Alex also provides assessments for adult ADHD and combined autism and ADHD (AuDHD), including cases where presentations are complex, subtle, or have previously been overlooked.

Alongside assessment work, Alex provides psychological therapy for adults experiencing difficulties such as anxiety, depression, stress, adjustment problems, sleep difficulties, excessive worry, and unhelpful behavioural patterns.
